We love to go on safari! Our favorite parks are Mikumi National Park and Selous Game Reserve. These less famous parks have less visitors and offer the possibility of seeing just as many animals as you might see in Serengeti or Ngorongoro.
Mikumi National Park is only a six hour drive away from Dar Es Salaam. It is perfect for those who don't have the money or time to go to Serengeti. It's a
relatively small national park but it offers the chance to see most of the big five! Lions, elephants, buffalo's and even leopards are spotted here. And of course you can also see
zebras, giraffes, gazelles and hippos.
The Selous Game Reserve is huge and is dominated by the Rufiji River which is connected to many lakes and deltas. The predominant landscape is flat with acacia woodland. Therefore in Selous you can do boat safaris and walking safaris, or you just hop in the car with us. The animals are amazing and best spotted when they come drinking near the rivers and lakes. Think of giraffes, waterbucks, zebras, lions and even rare wild dogs and black rhinos!
